This tour will begin at the historic Bizkaia Bridge. Popularly known as a “hanging bridge,” this iron structure from 1893 (much resembling the Eiffel Tower) was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006. It connects the seaside towns of Portugalete and Getxo, and is still operational, carrying passengers and vehicles in its gondola. There is also a 50-meter-high pedestrian bridge which offers a splendid view of the bay, all the way inland to Bilbao.

The tour will continue with a walk around the dock of Las Arenas (a part of Getxo), to explore buildings of great beauty, some of them in ashlars and influenced by English architecture.

You will then cross the modern marina, full of restaurants, cafés, bars, cinemas and shops, to arrive at the Ereaga Beach promenade – from there, the tour goes on to the Old Port of Algorta, with its picturesque white houses and narrow streets.
